In downtown Radford there are only a few shops that target a certain market. There is a clothing store for women between the ages of thirty and older, a theater for any audience, a restuarant/bar, and a few other random shops. When looking at downtown Radford, it seems to me that there is not much to do for the younger adult between the ages of 13-20. I would like there to be a shop where teens could buy either clothes or shoes. With this shop, a lot more people could be targeted, creating a more diverse environment in downtown Radford, also creating more of a business.
One of the stores already in the downtown area is called Garrett’s and Meg’s. This store sells a more sophisticated wardrobe targeting mostly women and men thirty plus years old. Being the only clothing store on strip means that more people are now going to be drawn into the store that has such a specific target market, only suiting a select few.
Another very popular restaurant right on the strip in downtown Radford is Sharkey’s. It is a bar/restaurant that everyone seems to rave about. They are always a full house with a wait, and don’t even try to go on game day. Sharkey’s is definitely the place to be to have a drink, hang, and watch the game with a few of your closest friends.
Another business on the trip is the Radford Theater, which by the way is the cheapest theater I’ve been to. The movies there are only five dollars! It is also probably the smallest theater I have been to with only one room to show movies in. Let me tell you, you feel like you’re watching a movie at home with the design of the actual theater. It is such a comfortable design instead of the now traditional, industrial, and big movie theaters most people are used to.
